Dr Waisam (Sam) Hoong is a fully registered Clinical Psychologist who has a keen interest working with adults, elderly adults, children and adolescents. Dr Hoong has a Master degree in Clinical Psychology from Murdoch University; BA (Hons), B.Ed (Hons) degree and a PhD from the University of Western Australia.

Prior to becoming involved in psychological services, Dr Hoong was a qualified Acupuncturist, Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner and had worked with individuals suffering from stroke, cancer, and other health problems. She speaks Cantonese, Mandarin and Hokkien. As a psychologist, Dr Hoong has worked at Abbotsford Private Hospital, 360 Health and Community (previously known as Medicare Local), the Department of Education and Department for Child Protection.

Currently as a Clinical Psychologist, Dr Hoong specialises in the management of adult psychopathology. This includes working with clients diagnosed with severe anxiety disorders (panic, GAD, OCD), depression, complex trauma, relationship difficulties and chronic pain. She was also experienced running the STEPS pain management program.

Dr Hoong believes in the practice of stillness of mind and mindful awareness and has adopted mindfulness and clinical hypnosis as a healing modality while working withher clients. Dr Hoong experienced in running weekly Mindfulness groups and encourages her clients to practice mindfulness on a daily basis.
